24 Carrot in Poptropica Worlds!

24 Carrot

Hiya, Silver Wolf here with some very recent news about Poptropica Worlds! An exciting update has arrived, relating to one of Poptropica’s oldest and most popular islands: 24 Carrot! Oddly, it released quite abruptly without any post or sneak peeks nodding towards its arrival. Is this a sign of less communication from Poptropica? We shall see…

New 24 Carrot CharacterIn other news, there are several changes to our beloved land of Dr. Hare. I haven’t completed it yet, but certain aspects of the quest have changed, like *spoilers* you release Charlie’s cat from a cage, which was a trap for Dr. Hare! That’s quite different from the original assignment of just finding it in a house.

What I particularly find interesting is the “Carrot Museum” that has been added! It’s similar to the Visitor’s Center on Crisis Caverns. Will every island have one of these from now on? I hope so! Perhaps this is a way for Poptropica to become more educational so perhaps schools will encourage its use. An example of one of the signs in the museum is below, describing the carrot’s evolution.

The Quest Log has also worked for me so far, which I’m fairly happy about because it was my favorite change from the original Poptropica. It’s especially helpful if you haven’t played in a long time and forgot where you were, or you simply need a nudge in the right direction.

Anyway, that’s all for now. Have fun! 🙂

Mashup Mondays: Frozen

mashup-mondays-header

Let it go, let it go, can’t hold it back anymore… Unless you were born today, you’ve probably heard about Disney’s Frozen, possibly now one of Disney’s most iconic modern movies. I mean, we’re still hearing about it in 2016 from over 3 years ago! There’s that, and plus it is winter, so what could be better?

Extra Creations

Sometimes there’s such a variety of fan creations, it can’t be put into one category. Well, we have a piece of art, YouTube video, and Realms! First up is a EPoptropica version of Elsa drawn by TamamoMae:

It looks pretty cool! I think the eyeshadow was a nice touch. Next is a Realms creation with Frozen’s Elsa and Anna in multiple costumes (thanks to the PHB)!

I’ve always liked what Anna wears better than Elsa; I like blue, but not too much blue. Lastly, a YouTube video by Sienna Nading that smooths right into the next section, showing how to make an Elsa costume:

Great video, Sienna!

Mashup Mondays: How to Train Your Dragon

mashup-mondays-header

Yep, it’s this time again! Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of How to Train Your Dragon 1 and 2, some of the most popular kids’ movies to date. There isn’t any art for this (sadly), but there are costumes, ads, and some dragons in Poptropica itself!

Costumes

I’ve only found two costumes for How to Train Your Dragon, but I think they’re really good! Both are from the Poptropica Help Blog on their Costumes page of Hiccup and Astrid in the movie. If you can’t find it, try pressing ctrl and ‘f’ at the same time, then search the names in the search bar at the top right. Here they are:

I like how they both give off a Viking feel but their costumes still vary quite a bit. I especially like Astrid’s axe. Make sure to click the link for instructions on how to make the costumes yourself.

Mashup Mondays: Doctor Who

mashup-mondays-header

The Doctor is in! Who? The Doctor! For this week’s Mashup Mondays, there isn’t any fan art, but I’ll try to make up for it with more costumes and a longer Bits & Pieces! Since the Costumes section is so big with photos, it will go at the end.

Bits & Pieces

If you know what Doctor Who is, then you would know it is all about time travel. So, what better island to bring up than Time Tangled? Now, Time Tangled may not have a cool — definitely not conspicuous — phone booth to travel in, but it does have a Time Device you can use! The first stop is (with photos from the ATP)…

poptropica tti 9Ancient Greece: In Poptropica, Ancient Greece is as far back as you can go. In Doctor Who…not so much. You can also speak to an oracle, who gives advice from the gods. Well, in a Doctor Who novel, “The Slitheen Excursion,” the Doctor goes to Ancient Greece, and it seems like gods are visiting them; well, they’re actually aliens! Yes, it’s an odd show.

The Vikings: In Poptropica, the Vikings ask you to get an amulet for them. Most likely, in the real Viking era, they wouldn’t have been so friendly, as in “The Girl Who Died.” Instead, the Vikings capture the Doctor, and they only escape by the appearance of Odin.

Leonardo da Vinci: Just as you meet Leonardo da Vinci in Poptropica, the Doctor meets him several times, and the Mona Lisa comes up many times, including the Doctor writing “This is fake” on copies and it being based on a companion! Continue reading

Mashup Mondays: Gravity Falls

Mashup Mondays Header

This week’s Mashup was suggested by Purple Claw!

Now, I know Gravity Falls has a big place in many Poptropicans’ hearts… That’s why I wanted to take all that fondness and put it into one post! There are a lot of costumes for this one, along with some Gravity Falls art made by community members. Let’s get to it!

Fanart

Made by mrmeepjeep, Poptropica community members have been drawn as Gravity Falls characters, known as #PoptropicaFalls:

To the left, you can see a drawing of Small Fire, and to the right, a drawing of Ylimegirl in Gravity Falls form! Pretty cool! Known as Abel Hackney on YouTube, they also made a video of a speed drawing of Tall Cactus for #PoptropicaFalls:

Now, these are just little bonuses, but some Gravity Falls art alone has been made by some Poptropica community members:

Gravity Falls Season 1 cover art was made by TheKeystone (HPuterpop), and an artwork by SydVC (Spotted Dragon) was made of an important scene with Mabel.

Mashup Mondays Header

Made by the amazing Spotted Dragon!

Dear Poptropican,

We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Mashup Mondays School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all Harry Potter mashups and references.

Term begins on 8 August. We await your reading by no later than now.

Yours sincerely,

Fanart

First is this amazing artwork with Harry Potter characters in Poptropica’s style by SmileyFaceOrg:

Harry Potter

love the style of these, and Severus and Remus look especially cool (I kind of want Remus’s hair in an odd way).

Also, Pizzaface4372 created a scene from Harry Potter, representing what would be Hogwarts Island:

The actual background is from Shark Tooth, as said on the DeviantArt. It’s pretty cool that they got all the emotions right!

Mashup Mondays: Ghostbusters

This week’s mashup was suggested by Spotted Dragon!

Ghost StoryWho ya gonna call? Ghostbusters! Although, I’m not sure if I would want to capture Fiona in a box… But her scary, random voice appearing out of nowhere was not very nice, either…hmm… Anway, there have been a lot of ghost themes in Poptropica, and there’s some trivia, too!

Fanart

The only direct fanart I could find was by Criaha, a well-known Poptropica artist, of all four Ghostbusters from the new movie!

Ghostbusters

I think this one more than makes up for the otherwise lack of Ghostbusters and Poptropica mashups. By the way, have you seen the new Ghostbusters? I loved Jillian Holtzmann’s character! Hilarious.

Also, as a bonus, here’s a cool artwork of Ghost Story Island (hey, it sticks to the ghost theme!) by elfmoon3:
