Authors, Tribes, and Mashups!

Hiya, Silver Wolf here, and wow! I haven’t had a post about the blog in a long time. There are a few things I want to talk about recently…

Authors

We’re looking for new authors! The requirements are that you have good grammar/punctuation/spelling, you’re active, and you enjoy Poptropica! So, if you want a position, or you know someone that does, leave a comment below. Also, if you want to get straight to it, you can always contact us through our email: poptropicatip@gmail.com. Make sure to spread the word! 🙂

Tribes

Tribes PageThis page has had a long time coming… I actually started working on it a very, very long time ago. But, here it is! Now, individual tribe pages haven’t yet been made, but there are a few things that make our Tribes page different:

  • It has the tribe shirts on the page, and you can even quiz yourself on them!
  • I did a little research on colors and emotions, so I created some descriptions for each tribe based on their colors! If you don’t know what tribe you want to be in, go look at the page and see if you can find one that matches you. Of course, they aren’t completely accurate, and it’s mainly just for a bit of fun.
  • The page includes a guide on how to choose your tribe and use its common room.

obviously had to choose Seraphim because, well…Seraphim ftw!

Mashup Mondays

Note: I forgot to include that this is starting June 20th!

I’m thinking about starting a new series every week called Mashup Mondays. Basically, it tells about a certain fandom and its presence throughout Poptropica, from art to costumes! My first Mashup will be Percy Jackson …have you seen Mythology Island? Anyway, we will be accepting submissions! You can always just comment what you want the next Mashup to be, and if you email an artwork/story/costume, or even a reference you saw in Poptropica, it will be featured in the next post, giving credit! There are even more things you can enter, including island theories, etc.

Well, I think that’s about all that I have. Bai!

No Time for Naps, There’s a New Map!

Hiya, Silver Wolf here, and it looks like Poptropica has had a bit of a makeover! The map with all of the islands has gotten quite of new additions… If you haven’t seen it yet or want to find out more, keep reading! 🙂 If you just want the recap, scroll to the bottom.

Now, I think we’ve all noticed lately that fewer islands have been released. Well, that’s part of the reason I made this title: you may be getting tired, but it looks like the Creators have been working on other features for us Poptropicans, and this one I like quite a bit. It’s even on the app!

Map.PNGThe first thing to note about the new map is that they’re all in the same style! Yes, even the non-SUI islands without sound or a bigger screen. Also, you may be wondering, why is Mythology on the first page and not one of the last? After all, islands have been arranged by their release date. Well, that’s another thing of the past! Now they are arranged by how popular they are. And let me just say, not only is that convenient for new Poptropicans, but it is also genius advertising Great Pumpkinon Poptropica’s part. Although, Great Pumpkin looks very lonely at the bottom of the last page. 😦

#SaveGreatPumpkin

Honestly, it’s probably because it’s only available to Members right now…right? Yes, definitely. “Home” also seems to be playing a larger part in this. Not only is there an icon in the top right corner, but it’s on the first page, and you land there whenever you log back into Poptropica, no matter what island you were on before you logged off!

Island InfoAh, but let’s get to the specifics. First of all, those bars under the islands show your progress on the island, whether it’s your first time or you restarted. When you click an island, some info will come up, including the difficulty of the island (looks like Captain Crawfish had some part in this with the gold crossbones). Under that is the medallion with how many times you’ve completed the island at the top-right, and your progress underneath, along with an option to restart. To the right is a short excerpt about the island and a ‘Start’ button. Pretty convenient! As a recap:

  • The map is in the app.
  • All the islands have the same style, along with some cool clouds.
  • The islands are arranged by how popular they are.
  • “Home” is slowly gaining more focus.
  • Islands have a bar for your progress.
  • The difficulty of the island is shown once you click it.
  • How many times you’ve completed an island is also shown.
  • Information about the island is given, too.

Survival Island Info & Exclusive Sneak Peek

27c32-survival

Most of you probably noticed the Survival Island store items yesterday (Wind Power and a non-uploading card, which you can read about further down; first posted by Pixel), which were accidentally released. But the question is: why did it take hours upon hours for the Creators to decide to take them down? Usually, the items are taken down at most one hour, but these items were not. What happened? No evidence is given, but there are plenty of theories. Besides, how are the items released without being on purpose? It does take programming to release such items at any given time, and it is occurring more often than usual, whether item cards, blog posts, or updates on the homepage of Poptropica. Perhaps it’s not an accident as we suspect. Either way, let’s discuss the island. Here’s the description:

Episode 1: Crash Landing – Members play on 3/20!
Night has fallen and the temperature is dropping. Alone in the forests of the Yukon, you must find a way to build a fire — but time is running out.

Episode 2: Hook, Line and Sinker
With no help in sight, your hunger threatens to overtake you. Can you catch your next meal under the ice — or will you become fish food?

More episodes coming soon!

They’re creating and releasing islands differently now — similar to a TV show series, in fact — and maybe because of the unhappiness with how long the new islands are released apart from one another. I know I’m not too happy about the wait! What they’re doing is releasing islands in parts to reduce the time and make fellow Poptropicans happier and decreasing the impatience. Although, how is the Player Map going to be released?  Is it also going to be in parts, or will they average out the times for all islands and judge that way? Only time will tell. The first “Episode” will be released on March 20th, 2014 (USA) for Members only.

Wind Power2014-03-07_20h38_44What about the Members only items? Well, I can tell you two of the items! The Creators have only released the first item, Wind Power, which you can see to the left (click to zoom in). But what about the other item? It’s not released yet, but the PTFP gets a special look! 🙂 The next item is a…..Ghillie Suit (click to zoom in)! It’s  “a type of camouflage clothing designed to resemble heavy foliage.” ~Google The only way to get this item early was to purchase it yesterday when it was the forever-loading, unknown gold card. Lastly, you can receive the desktop wallpaper and/or printable poster from the island info page.

Are you excited? I know I am! For Non-Members, hopefully you won’t have to wait too long until the island is released to all. Bai!! ~SW out
