Mashup Mondays: Toy Story

mashup-mondays-header

*gasp* Is this is a post? Yes, yes it is. If you remember my last post, I said “So this brings up the question: what’s going to happen to the PTFP? I don’t know. I’m never going to delete it, but I’m not sure if I’ll post again. I could post a week from now if I felt like it, or this could be it. It depends.”

Well, it’s a Monday. Toy Story 4 is out (with a 98% Rotten Tomatoes rating). I love art. I still love Poptropica in its own way. So I decided: why not make a post if I’ll have fun? So we’re bringing out the ol’ Toy Story mashed with Poptropica! I could edit this to the extreme like I used to, but I think that’s part of what made me tired of posting. I want to be genuine, to be me. So there might be mistakes or awkward wording, but the point is to have fun! Let’s get to it!

Toy Story and Poptropica’s History

Oddly enough, there have been lots of Toy Story ads on Poptropica, but not much documentation. Apparently, in 2010 there was a Toy Story/Toy Story 2 DVD ad, but I can only find this Answers.com question and this YouTube video as evidence (thanks to the person who recorded this, who is 9 years older now, which is weird to think about):

The ad consisted of a crane machine game, and the prizes were a Toy Alien costume, a Buzz Lightyear costume, and an army men effect card. According to the Answers.com response, there was a “Jenny” costume as well, but that’s not a Toy Story character, so perhaps they meant Jessie. Who knows.

Now, also in 2010, there was also a Toy Story 3 ad, which did release that year in theaters. This time, there’s better documentation, but still only one post describing it that I can find on Icy Comet’s Blog (wow, that brings back memories!). The costumes, with credit to the post and blog of course, looked like this:

Costume & Membership Winners!

Hiya, Silver Wolf here with some exciting news! Remember the #MyPoptropicaCostume contest from way, way back (February 8th, actually)? Well, in case you’ve forgotten, these were the Grand Prize costume winners:

Why am I mentioning this, you ask? Maybe because Poptropica gave a sneak peek of the costumes! The post was pretty cryptic, though, only saying this:

Costume contest winners are dropping soon in Poptropica Worlds and Poptropica Original! Stay tuned for these exciting outfits…

No date or even hint? Also, in case you haven’t noticed, posts are no longer by Skinny Moon, so the style is pretty different. I’m not much of a fan with the new changes… After all, we’re not getting a connection to the author anymore. If you didn’t see, these are what the costumes look like currently:

It looks like the most changes came to the Ocean Princess costume, especially when it comes to the “boy” version, and it lost some of the glow effects. I think they could have just changed the colors, but whatever. 😛 The costume also comes with a trident, which wasn’t part of the original. I have to say, though, the Hip Hop Boy costume is pretty spot-on.

Those aren’t the only recent winners announced, however. Recently there was a membership contest for Poptropica’s 10th birthday. All you had to do was create a unique island that had a birthday cake, parrotfish, and color green included. All ten winners got a 1-month membership for their amazing submission! These submissions included (click images for full size):

Costume Wonderland!

Despite a bit of inactivity in the first couple of weeks in December on the Creators’ Blog, there have been three posts in the past four days! The two subjects? Wimpy Wonderland Island and the #MyPoptropicaCostume contest.

#MyPoptropicaCostume Updates

If you’ve read our post about some upcoming “very interesting stuff,” then you’ve probably wondered, like most of us, exactly what that meant. Well, it seems as if it was about the #MyPoptropicaCostume contest (although I was slightly hoping for news about the ‘New Poptropica’). But, who knows, maybe something will be announced tomorrow on New Year’s Day! 😉

First of all, like the image above shows, today was supposed to be the last day for entering your costume, but it’s been extended to the second of January! A little gift from Poptropica, I suppose. Although, that’s not even the fun part.

stuffThere will be 2 grand prize winners! That means not just one, but two Poptropicans will get a 6-month membership, and — to me, most excitingly — their costume will be able to be purchased from the Store! Along with all these great goodies, it will be featured on Home Island on one of the Poptropicans.

We get to vote on costumes! Yes, you read that right. There will be 20 costumes that we can vote on, and the 10 with the most votes will win. The prizes of being one of the runner-ups are nearly just as good; you get a 3-month membership and your costume will still be available in the Store later in 2017!

Good luck, Poptropicans!

Wimpy Wonderland Peeks

If you’re interested in what goes on behind the scenes of islands, here’s another batch of some animations and drawings, this time of Wimpy Wonderland! Since it’s one of December’s IOTMs, it’s fitting, and what’s more, it will still be open to everyone until January 2nd! I don’t know about you, but does it seem like a lot of important things are ending the second? Why the second, when Wimpy Wonderland is featured as a December island? Maybe there will be an update that day…or the day after…hmm. Still, here are some of the behind the scenes peeks:

This animation is of Greg and Rodrick, the two feuding brothers:

Pets, IOTM, & More

A lot has happened on Poptropica since our last update. The spookiness of Halloween has ended, but Thanksgiving is next! And then, of course, some awesome winter holidays. 😉 As for Mashup Mondays, there will be a post this Monday, so keep an eye out! I probably won’t be able to keep up a steady flow of them, but I’ll try. I also have some other surprises up my sleeve… Anyway, let’s get on to the post!

Islands of the Month

It’s a new month, which means new Islands of the Month (IOTM)! This time, the islands of the month are… Shrink Ray and Poptropolis Games! If you want handy-dandy written guides, just click those links. Otherwise, you can always watch Captain Crawfish’s video walkthroughs:

Remember that if it’s your first time completing them, you get 500 credits! If you’ve played them before, you get 300! Those will add up, especially for all the fall outfits they’ve been releasing…

Happy (Almost) Halloween!

cropped-halloween-2016.png

Our new spooky (spoopy?) header!

Poptropica is already in the Halloween spirit! And so am I, actually. From zombies to fairies, Halloween is all about dressing up (and maybe about getting candy, too). That’s why the first piece of news is…

Poppy Puppet Costumes

I might just have to do a Gender Glitch for this one because both of these costumes look really cool. Of course, it’s limited time, so get it as soon as possible! It’s 400 credits for non-members, and, as always, free for members.

If you’re low on credits, you can always spin the spinnew…Halloween Spinning Wheel! Yep, it’s fully Halloweenified with fall colors, cobwebs, spooky spiders, and jack-o-lanterns.

Also, the Poptropica Help Blog is having its annual Halloween contest! If you dress up in a Halloween costume or fall-related costume and win, the Creators are giving a 1-month membership to all the winners!

Congrats to all the winners, enjoys your memberships! And to all of you who didn’t win anything, don’t worry, I’m sure there will be more fun contests in the near future.

Now, let’s go back to the whole Home Island update.

First of all, the Halloween Photo Booth is back and better as ever, make sure to enjoy it while it lasts!

You may notice some other sp00py changes too…

But the most shocking one has to DJ Saturday Nite’s new hair color, which looks strangely familiar…

So yeah, that’s all for now. Have a happy yet horrifying Halloween, stay sp00py, and make sure to never run with scissors!

9th Birthday, #PoptropicaArt, & More!

Hiya, Silver Wolf here, with some Poptastic Updates! I would like to note that this is replacing this week’s Mashup Mondays, but there will be one next week.

9 Lives Means 9 Birthdays

Now, I love cats, and so I’m pretty excited for Poptropica’s 9th birthday items… The 9th Birthday Balloon of course, and a hat with a cat in it (it even wags its tail)! So cute. Like last year’s 8-bit pig item, this year’s is also a play on the birthday number.

Poptropica’s birthday month is September, so they probably won’t be in the store for much longer! A little extra info is that Poptropica had a birthday party at their HQ, including Jeff Kinney. Looks pretty fun to me. I mean, cats!
