Mashup Mondays: Toy Story

mashup-mondays-header

*gasp* Is this is a post? Yes, yes it is. If you remember my last post, I said “So this brings up the question: what’s going to happen to the PTFP? I don’t know. I’m never going to delete it, but I’m not sure if I’ll post again. I could post a week from now if I felt like it, or this could be it. It depends.”

Well, it’s a Monday. Toy Story 4 is out (with a 98% Rotten Tomatoes rating). I love art. I still love Poptropica in its own way. So I decided: why not make a post if I’ll have fun? So we’re bringing out the ol’ Toy Story mashed with Poptropica! I could edit this to the extreme like I used to, but I think that’s part of what made me tired of posting. I want to be genuine, to be me. So there might be mistakes or awkward wording, but the point is to have fun! Let’s get to it!

Toy Story and Poptropica’s History

Oddly enough, there have been lots of Toy Story ads on Poptropica, but not much documentation. Apparently, in 2010 there was a Toy Story/Toy Story 2 DVD ad, but I can only find this Answers.com question and this YouTube video as evidence (thanks to the person who recorded this, who is 9 years older now, which is weird to think about):

The ad consisted of a crane machine game, and the prizes were a Toy Alien costume, a Buzz Lightyear costume, and an army men effect card. According to the Answers.com response, there was a “Jenny” costume as well, but that’s not a Toy Story character, so perhaps they meant Jessie. Who knows.

Now, also in 2010, there was also a Toy Story 3 ad, which did release that year in theaters. This time, there’s better documentation, but still only one post describing it that I can find on Icy Comet’s Blog (wow, that brings back memories!). The costumes, with credit to the post and blog of course, looked like this:

Mashup Mondays: MLP Friendship is Magic

mashup-mondays-header

I know what you’re thinking…wasn’t this series dead?! No…well, maybe… Anyway, it’s back! This week’s mashup was suggested by Purple Claw on the last Mashup Mondays about Supernatural. If you don’t know what MLP stands for, this post is about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Also, happy Memorial Day!

Art

The first piece of art we have is by ihmps6p07 on deviantArt, named “MLP: Poptropica Artists from MLP“! They turned Poptropica artists that also draw MLP into ponies themselves:

Other Poptropica/MLP artists include PerfectLightningDeeJay-RosiettaANNE14TCO,  TechnoBunny16, and SuperGrape1. Here are their works, respectively:

Even though these are only their MLP examples, these artists have plenty of Poptropica art, too. Also, click the images to see their links and their full size!

Costumes

I’m just putting a disclaimer right here that this section is going to be huge. Why? Because a certain MLP and Poptropica fan made a ton of potential costumes for a My Little Pony Island! Technically these are artworks, but I figured that since they’re meant to be costumes, they can go in this section. Here they are:

Mashup Mondays: Supernatural

mashup-mondays-header

It’s been awhile, but another Mashup Mondays is here! This time it’s on one of my personal favorite TV shows: Supernatural. Although, it’s rated TV-14, so make sure to get your parents permission first to watch it! Along with this post, I’m hoping to make a news one and maybe another random one soon. 😉 Also, there are some creature spoilers.

Direct Creations

I’ve found a couple of creations directly related to Supernatural, but there are plenty that indirectly relate too! Seriously, from Greek mythology to vampires and wraiths, the show has it all. Here they are:

To the left is a motivational poster made by 1313cookie (better known as Brave Tomato) on DeviantArt. Make sure to read the description or else you might not get the reference! To the right is Castiel, a character from Supernatural, on the Poptropica Fashion Wiki. Pretty good if I say so myself!

Mashup Mondays: Frozen

mashup-mondays-header

Let it go, let it go, can’t hold it back anymore… Unless you were born today, you’ve probably heard about Disney’s Frozen, possibly now one of Disney’s most iconic modern movies. I mean, we’re still hearing about it in 2016 from over 3 years ago! There’s that, and plus it is winter, so what could be better?

Extra Creations

Sometimes there’s such a variety of fan creations, it can’t be put into one category. Well, we have a piece of art, YouTube video, and Realms! First up is a EPoptropica version of Elsa drawn by TamamoMae:

It looks pretty cool! I think the eyeshadow was a nice touch. Next is a Realms creation with Frozen’s Elsa and Anna in multiple costumes (thanks to the PHB)!

I’ve always liked what Anna wears better than Elsa; I like blue, but not too much blue. Lastly, a YouTube video by Sienna Nading that smooths right into the next section, showing how to make an Elsa costume:

Great video, Sienna!

Mashup Mondays: How to Train Your Dragon

mashup-mondays-header

Yep, it’s this time again! Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of How to Train Your Dragon 1 and 2, some of the most popular kids’ movies to date. There isn’t any art for this (sadly), but there are costumes, ads, and some dragons in Poptropica itself!

Costumes

I’ve only found two costumes for How to Train Your Dragon, but I think they’re really good! Both are from the Poptropica Help Blog on their Costumes page of Hiccup and Astrid in the movie. If you can’t find it, try pressing ctrl and ‘f’ at the same time, then search the names in the search bar at the top right. Here they are:

I like how they both give off a Viking feel but their costumes still vary quite a bit. I especially like Astrid’s axe. Make sure to click the link for instructions on how to make the costumes yourself.

Mashup Mondays: Steven Universe

This post was written by Noveen, a Poptropica community member.

mashup-mondays-header

Over the course of 3 years, Steven Universe has taken the world by storm! Of course, this means it’s worked its way into the Poptropica community. Many of our fellow Poptropicans are great Steven Universe fans and have incorporated it into the game’s media. It also has various LGBT characters, inspiring many. Here’s a compilation of some of their works!

Fanart

Master Pinpey has drawn several works connecting Steven Universe and Poptropica. The first of these is a short animation redrawing of a Peridot quote in Poptropica style. The second work, to the right, is a gorgeous Poptropica rendition of Steven Universe’s very own Rose Quartz!

While there are several Poptropica/Steven Universe mashups, there’s also Steven Universe fanart drawn by well-known Poptropica artists. Here’s a stunning painting of Amethyst drawn by Criaha. The coloring is just breathtaking:

(Silver Wolf: TC has been wanting this post for awhile. Well, here it is! I thought the drawing was still worth a mention since you love SU so much. 😉 )

Mashup Mondays: Doctor Who

mashup-mondays-header

The Doctor is in! Who? The Doctor! For this week’s Mashup Mondays, there isn’t any fan art, but I’ll try to make up for it with more costumes and a longer Bits & Pieces! Since the Costumes section is so big with photos, it will go at the end.

Bits & Pieces

If you know what Doctor Who is, then you would know it is all about time travel. So, what better island to bring up than Time Tangled? Now, Time Tangled may not have a cool — definitely not conspicuous — phone booth to travel in, but it does have a Time Device you can use! The first stop is (with photos from the ATP)…

poptropica tti 9Ancient Greece: In Poptropica, Ancient Greece is as far back as you can go. In Doctor Who…not so much. You can also speak to an oracle, who gives advice from the gods. Well, in a Doctor Who novel, “The Slitheen Excursion,” the Doctor goes to Ancient Greece, and it seems like gods are visiting them; well, they’re actually aliens! Yes, it’s an odd show.

The Vikings: In Poptropica, the Vikings ask you to get an amulet for them. Most likely, in the real Viking era, they wouldn’t have been so friendly, as in “The Girl Who Died.” Instead, the Vikings capture the Doctor, and they only escape by the appearance of Odin.

Leonardo da Vinci: Just as you meet Leonardo da Vinci in Poptropica, the Doctor meets him several times, and the Mona Lisa comes up many times, including the Doctor writing “This is fake” on copies and it being based on a companion! Continue reading
