Goodbye

I regret to inform you that I’m going to be leaving this blog. Not just this blog, really, but every blog that I work on.

To be honest, I have no interest in Poptropica blogging anymore. I mean, I like the game, and it’s fun to try and find out what island comes next, but now it’s getting a little boring. I’ll still be playing the game, and I’ll still blog on my personal blog (because it is not Poptropica blogging, but just things that happen in my Poptropica life).

So you can find me on there, or friend me on Poptropica, but unfortunately I won’t be blogging on this site anymore.

Please remove me from this site Wolfy.

Poptropica Hall of Fame, Dangerous Glove, and Mystery of the Map!

Sooo… we got a little inactive again. But don’t worry 🙂 I’ve been talking with SW about this villain-kind of thing (shhhhhhh, it’s a secret!).

Anyway, let’s catch up:

Poptropica Hall of Fame

pop hall of fame

No better way to explain it than by the Creators themselves. Here’s the details, straight from the Crawfish:

Have you ever wanted your Poptropican to be featured on a Poptropica Island? Now’s your chance: introducing the Poptropica Hall of Fame!

We’re giving players the opportunity to have their avatar appear on Main Street on one of six Poptropica Islands. Simply play through any Island and earn that Island’s Medallion, and you’ll be entered to have your avatar chosen.

It’ll still count if you’ve completed the Island before, and there’s no limit to how many times you can replay. So the more Islands you complete, the more chances you have to be a star!

Each week, we’ll pick players at random from those who have earned Medallions. Those players will have their Poptropicans placed in one of six different quests. We’ll announce which players, and which Islands, after the first drawing.

Imagine: your name in lights! Your face on the screen! Your hot dog costume broadcast around the world for millions to see!

Dangerous Glove

You might’ve guessed that Dangerous Glove is the first Poptropican to be in the Poptropica Hall of Fame. If you’re reading this, DG, congratulations!

Dangerous Glove is now on Night Watch Island!

Mystery of the Map Island

And the last bit of news I have for you today is that Mystery of the Map Island will be released to non-members this Thursday!

TAFN (a phrase I learned from HP 😉 )

MotM Island Released!

I’m happy to say that Mystery of the Map Island is released to member! I played it, and I really loved it. From the way our “footsteps” moved on the map, to the sheer cleverness of it all, I loved it.

One downside was that after I completed it, it wouldn’t show up. So now I have to restart the island and start all over. 😦

Anyway, back to my game!

MotM Island, Popstorms, and BTS!!

Hey Poptropicans!! Trusty, here! We’ve kind of been behind on a lot of things, so prepare for the longest post in the world to make up for it (maybe not THAT long….)!

MOTM ISLAND

MysteryOfTheMap02
A few days later, the official tour page came out, along with the trailer, description, and three item cards!

A lost Viking settlement… an island unstuck in time… a magical map with power beyond understanding… and a devious plot that could unravel the very fabric of Poptropica! Join Mya, Oliver, and Jorge for a thrilling new adventure that lifts the veil from the greatest secret of all: the origin of Poptropica!

As of a couple of days ago, I was able to buy the item cards, but they wouldn’t show up in my inventory. I’ll have to check again to see if the Creators have fixed this.

Members will be able to play the island May 21st, while I heard nonmembers would have to wait a month after.

POPSTORMS

There’ve been a lot of Popstorms we haven’t even MENTIONED. Here are the ones we’ve missed.

April 2015, and MotM Interview

What’s up, Poptropicans?

First off, I wanted to mention the very funny joke the Creators played on us:

Available on both 3½” and 5¼” floppy disc, Poptropica: The Text Adventure is compatible with all leading desktop computer platforms, including Commodore 64, TRS-80, and Apple IIe. Coming soon!

Poptropica: The Text Adventure was just some white words on a black background:

And for those of you who don’t know what a floppy disk looks like (or is), here you go: (I actually had to ask my dad for help on this, as I had no idea what it is either 😀 )

As far as I can understand, a floppy disk was something you would insert into your computer, run the program, and the words would show up on the screen ( I may be wrong though 🙂 )

Aside from that, over on the Creator’s Blog, we got an interview with the Mystery of the Map illustrator, Kory Merrit!

Captain Crawfish: How did you get involved in illustrating Mystery of the Map?

Kory Merritt: The Poptropica Creators originally hired me to illustrate the Poptropica comic strip. After a little while they asked me to try some graphic novel page samples, which led to me working on “Mystery of the Map” with author Max “Galactic Hot Dogs” Brallier.

CC: What are the challenges of adapting Poptropica’s art style from an online game to a graphic novel? What are the joys?

KM: Poptropica has a very distinct style. I’m actually an art teacher by day and didn’t have much freelance experience, so working for Poptropica was the first time I had to draw someone else’s characters. It took a little while to get the hang of it – the Poptropica design might seem simple at times, but there are little details that can make or break the characters. Fortunately, the Poptropica Creators were very patient and helped guide me along. I’m pretty happy with the results, for I think the illustrations resemble the standard Poptropican model, but at the same time have a hand-drawn, comic-type feel.

CC: What’s your process for illustrating the book?

KM: I’m old-fashioned enough to still use pen and paper for the most part, but for “Mystery of the Map” I also used digital color and made corrections in Photoshop.

CC: Who’s your favorite MotM character to draw?

KM: The Vikings! It’s fun to draw angry faces.

CC: What other projects have you worked on that Poptropicans might like to know about?

KM: I draw some of my own stories, mostly just for fun. One of them is on FunBrain, and some are on GoComics.com. It seems I will also have my own illustrated book coming out later this year, published by Andrews McMeel.

Now many of you have seen my theory on the possibly upcoming Mystery of the Map Island(since it is sticky 😛 ), but here is a little more evidence that I found 😀 (thanks to the PHB for some of this!)

  • If you type mysteryofthemapisland.com, it will direct to Poptropica!
  • Daily Pops are blasting with MotM pictures! Look at them below (be prepared for a “Viking’s Grotto” common room!)

I’ll probably go into more detail about the images once the island is confirmed.

I can’t wait for MotM, but that’s my personal opinion 😀 What are you guys thinking? Put it in the comments!

Trusty Biker

P.S. Wolfy- I totally fell for that joke about you leaving 😀 Don’t ever do that again! 😛

Woo-hoo! PoptropiCon Episode 3 is Out!

Hi everyone! This is a quick post to let you know that PoptropiCon Episode 3 is out for members! I’m playing it right now, and it’s kind of hard, but I want to finish in the top 100! There’s been about 20 finishers as of the time I’m writing this!!

Okay, I’ve got to go! Gotta complete that island So, I just complete the island. I got in place number 219. I have to say, this island super glitch-y. I’ll tell you more about it later 😉
