A Greek Farewell

Hiya, Silver Wolf here with some exciting and saddening news. To start with, some beloved Creators have recently been let go, including Mitch Krpata, who, according to his blog, was the “‘Senior Story Developer and Narrative Designer'” of Poptropica for many years. Along with his blog post, he recently composed a Tweet mentioning his departure:

Krpata wrote four (amazing) Poptropica books, including Poptropica: The End of Time, Poptropica: The Secret Society, Poptropica: The Lost Expedition, and the Poptropica Island Creator Kit. Possibly what he is best and most fondly known for by the community is being Captain Crawfish, an author on the Poptropica Creators’ Blog and the narrator for Poptropica video walkthroughs. He’ll be greatly missed, and we’ll always remember his humor. Hopefully he does get to follow his dreams!

Nate Greenwall, known for creating Dr. Hare, has also left Poptropica, expressing his gratitude for working for Poptropica in a Tweet:

He’ll be greatly missed as well, but sadly he is not the last to leave. Lance Fry, a 2D artist, has not directly mentioned his exit from Poptropica, but it is known that he left too. Additionally, there could be others who were let go but have yet to be discovered by the community, as Christine Capota, the Director of Product Management for StoryArc Media, hinted:

So what does this mean? Well, I’ll be honest: it’s not looking good. Letting go senior employees with years and years of experience is not a positive sign, whether for financial reasons or not. It’s also worth mentioning that there hasn’t been a post on the Creators’ Blog since December 18th, another not-so-good sign.

A Poptropica Odyssey!

On a more positive and older note, a new island called Greek Sea Odyssey has been released on Poptropica Worlds! Some Greek citizens have tried to start an island that they can rule themselves, but Zeus is not happy about it and tries to foil their plans. Athena says that it’s up to you to go on an odyssey and gather sacred artifacts to help take down Zeus, allowing humans to live without any meddling gods at last.

I don’t want to spoil the ending, but the island is a lot of fun and has an almost unexpected twist at the end. If you need any help, we should also have a guide up soon.

So what do you think about these staff changes and the new island? I’m pretty sad, and honestly, a little bit angry at such iconic and important members of the Poptropica team being let go. How do you feel? Leave a comment below!
