Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters! Although, I’m not sure if I would want to capture Fiona in a box… But her scary, random voice appearing out of nowhere was not very nice, either…hmm… Anway, there have been a lot of ghost themes in Poptropica, and there’s some trivia, too!

The only direct fanart I could find was by Criaha, a well-known Poptropica artist, of all four Ghostbusters from the new movie!

I think this one more than makes up for the otherwise lack of Ghostbusters and Poptropica mashups. By the way, have you seen the new Ghostbusters? I loved Jillian Holtzmann’s character! Hilarious.

Now, to discuss Ghost Story Island as a whole. Of course, Ghostbusters and Ghost Story share very similar themes. Even if ghosts are the subject, for the most part, you’re helping ghosts in Poptropica, completely different from capturing them and sending them to a different dimension in Ghostbusters. There are even signs to show Poptropicans’ opinions…

Seems familiar? Because it’s modeled almost exactly after the Ghostbusters logo! However, it sends a completely different message.

After all, who wants Fiona’s beautiful love story to go away?  Without her, there would be no island. A great island, at that.

Not only does the island have a connection itself, but the minigame for the island, Spook Central, was based around the idea of Ghostbusters. You captured ghosts, and when you caught all of them, you got a special suit. It looks pretty cool, but it seems like it’s fit for the future rather than the present. Especially for the original Ghostbusters, it’s quite a jump from what they had.

Trivia

So this one you may not know about. In fact, I didn’t know about it until now! Ghostbusters, in fact, rivaled Poptropica in the LEGO CUUSOO project back in 2013. Was that really 3 years ago? They both reached 10,000 supports at around the same time, which is honestly a huge feat when going against such a huge franchise like Ghostbusters!

Sadly, the two greats went against one another and Ghostbusters won, being approved by the LEGO Review Board. But hey, you can still get a cool Ghostbusters set, right? I would like to thank this post sharing the news of the projects. They set a good argument for both sides, too!

I think that’s it! Sorry for the missing mashup last week. When I say I was exhausted, I really was exhausted. I also felt like with Ghostbusters just being released, maybe this could make up for the missed week! I already have the next mashup in the works, too. I should really create a logo for this… I think of mashed potatoes every time.
