This week’s mashup was suggested by Tall Cactus, based on PoptropiCon!
Superheroes! Villains! What does this remind you of? Well…more than one thing, probably: Marvel and Poptropica! Marvel has had a huge influence on Poptropica itself, especially in PoptropiCon island, resembling Comic-Con. A cool thing about this island is that a lot of the characters are based on Marvel characters. This means that there is also a lot of fan-creations of the characters, too! Read on to learn more.
Fanart
One really cool fanart was featured on Poptropica’s Twitter of Teen Arachnid, a character most likely based on Spiderman of Marvel Comics:
I mean, please. If it was red, it would look almost exactly like Spiderman. Another cool art piece is by Slanted Fish on her DeviantArt!
What looks like costume-inspired Spiderman and Iron Man is on the left and Hawkeye and Captain America on the right. Sounds like Captain America: Civil War, a new Marvel movie. Fishy also confirmed it was modeled after it in the comments!
Costumes
Costumes have been made, too, directly of some Marvel characters. To the right, you can see a costume based on Hawkeye, from Poptropica Help’s Costumes!
From X-Men, you can see Wolverine and Cyclops to the left, made on Fuzzy-B’s blog with instructions! Cyclops and Hawkeye have similar outfits, but now that I look at their characters, they can look similar when making an outfit for both of them.
References in Poptropica
Where to start! First of all, is it only me that thinks of Ultron every time I see Omegon?
I mean, if you thought of Ultron as looking like an angry bumblebee, you could see it. The red eyes…metal suit…their names end with -on… There are just too many similarities.
Let’s not forget Thor, an iconic Marvel character. Yes, he is from Odinism and Norse mythology, but yes, he is also an awesome superhero adopted in Marvel. What better way than to feature a costume of him and a hint that there is a movie based on him?
There’s a bit of controversy over this one, since it could be based on the Marvel character Hawkeye, or maybe Robin Hood. I’m leaning towards Hawkeye, since they are often grouped with other characters that look like they are from Marvel.
Next up: Iron Man! This character is named Goldface, and, to be fair, the Iron Man suit’s face is pretty gold. Plus, gold could also mean rich, which is true, too. This costume isn’t really my favorite… Iron Man deserves better! A cape? Really?
Lastly, Captain America… *crickets chirp in the background* Bias? What? I don’t have any bias against Captain. Of course not! But anyway, World Guy seems to be based on him, with the world on his shield like Captain’s star.
I think that’s it for our mashup today. Leave your mashup suggestions below, or even create mashup artwork or stories! What will this one be called? Moptropica… Marvica… Hmm.
